lately we have recieved a couple of advertisements from friends in NJ about a restaurant in Molt, Montana where they serve bluegrass music with breakfast. Where in the world is Molt, Montana, we thought? But we thought we would check it out. So Saturday at 7:30am we took off for Molt. Driving through a different part of Montana was interesting and as beautiful, maybe in a slightly different way as the mountain ranges aren't as visible. After about 1 hour we began to think that we certainly won't do this again. But we trudged on and thanks to Gypsy, our GPS we finally arrived to a "town" of about 3 buildings. On one two story building was HARDWARE on one side and PRAIRIE WIND CAFE on the other side. We go in..."Please sit anywhere you find a seat." The Rambling Laurals" (after a town called Laurel) was going strong. The only seats were right in front of the band, which was good. Afew minutes later, sonmeone asked if they could sit with us.."of course. please be seated". It turned out to be a actor from Los Angeles, a publisher from Philadelphia and a production manager for a filming company in billings, Montana filming a documentary. Isn't that cool? So we stayed there listening to The Rambling Laurels . eating great food and visiting with every one around us...you know Frank, he knows no strangers. :-) it was a great time and we decided we would go back again.

Montana in the eyes of a Newbie
I have gotten into birds since I have been in Montana. My favorite is the Magpie. They are beautiful! Black and white with a long black tail.they are garbage birds like ravens...but they are really pretty and elusive. I had a hard time catching one still enough to take a Picture of.
Today I saw another bird that fascinated me...it was brownish ,thin but long. It raised it's head and showed a beautiful very red throat (not breast as in robin). Of course I called an expert to see what kind it was....my 13 yr. old grandson....he knows everything about animals, birds, fish bugs, etc. He said he thought it might be a Red Throated Kinglet. So we are going bird watching soon. Montana has ALOT of all kinds of birds.

Montana in the Eyes of a Newbie
There are so many things to say about Montana, I almost don't know where to begin. I have always felt the ambiance of Montana when we visited our family here. We would wear jeans, Frank wore his cowboy boots and we always went to the rodeo July 4th. But since we have offically moved here, it is very different. It has become real life and we see it not as a "dude" (as in dude ranch) but as a Montanan. We really see Montana as we talk to ranchers , famers, hunters and flyfishing guides(besides my son, tony). We are living temporarily in a very small town called Clyde Park. It has one grocery store and you can walk the middle of town in 5 minutes or less. There are no red lights. The house sits on a slight hill over looking the town and the Crazies Mountain Range covered with snow. It is totally awesome!! I looked out the window one morning and there was several deer munching on someones bushes. As this doe looked up I took her picture, It was as if she was looking right at me. I am amazed as I look at her. I told my grandson about it and said " I hope I never lose my
awe at the things I see". God, the creator is so awesome to give us these visions of grandure.
Montana in the Eyes of a Newbie
For many years we have dreamed of living in Montana
since one of our sons and his wife moved here in 1990 .
Our 2nd son followed a few years later. Then our 5
grandchildren came and that just whetted our
desires to come here. Well, we retired in Sept. 2009
and God answered our prayer. This will be my story
about our trip here and what we have seen and done since.
More to follow!! The picture shone here I call
"Montana Fire". It is the sunsets that light up
the "Big Sky".
